A marketer once told me that he didn’t want to create another ebook because “everyone and his brother uses them.”
He’s right. If your company hasn’t yet produced a “free ebook,” then you may be a bit late to the party. But that doesn’t mean the party isn’t still going on.
And I’m here to help you join it, or contribute to it in a bigger, better way.
First, if you haven’t already, I ask that you pop over to my ebook-writing services page to understand my philosophy on ebooks. Warning: I don’t follow the crowd in this area, opting to create ebooks that are as easy on the brain as they are on the eyes.
If you like my thinking — if you agree and want an ebook that fulfills a reader’s hope — read on. You’ll learn exactly what you’ll get with my New Ebook Writing package.
What you get
Before I begin, I need to understand your company, your audience and their journey, and your goals. In this 30-minute call, either over the phone, by Skype, or through Hangouts, I’ll pick your brain in preparation for project.
During discovery, I’ll read your existing materials (website, brochures, other content) and jot down questions, concerns, and objections that arise along the way. The result of this work is a detailed questionnaire, which I develop using Word or Google Docs — your choice. Your job will be to respond to my questions and get me the information I need.
If you’re in a market that’s swimming with ebooks, then a review of competitor ebooks will be in order. I’ll learn what they’re saying about themselves and their products and services, how they speak to your mutual audience, and what you can do to differentiate your ebook, placing it at the top position in buyers’ minds.
I’ll generate many ebook ideas during the research and review phases–and I’ll send them to you in a brainstorming document. Approve a topic and direction, and away we go.
Now I'll get down to business, writing the ebook and providing recommendations for graphics and stock photos. If you use a certain stock photo source, let me know; I’ll look there.
When I send the ebook to you — via Word or Google Docs, your choice — you read it, mark it up, ask questions, ask me to add or remove content … whatever it takes to get the piece ready to send to your designer. I’ll work up version 2.0, and send it to you for design.
Although not part of this package, you may also want me to look at the ebook one last time, after it’s been through design. You’d be surprised at how many times I find errors: Duplicated paragraphs, wrong captions, even typos that you and I may have missed during our earlier review. This service costs $250; I’ll bill you separately for it once I’m through.
Have questions? Maybe I’ve already answered them in my ebook Q&A.
No questions? If you're ready, I'm ready. Let's get started!
The price of this package varies depending on how many pages of content I estimate that the final ebook may turn out to be. I also need to find out whether you'd like me provide any "extras," such as messaging guidance or a website review.
To help me prepare a quote, the next step is to schedule a 30-minute Get Acquainted call. There's no obligation; the call is just so that we can discuss what you have in mind. Please choose a time that works for you on the calendar that follows.
P.S. If you run into problems with the calendar (technology, you know!), please email me so I can get it fixed--and you scheduled.
