Content consultant and marketing editor on call

What does content chaos look like for your business?

  • Your content specialist regularly sends nurture and other emails filled with embarrassing errors.
  • Your sales people insist on emailing instead of calling prospects despite the fact that you've told them not to because their writing is atrocious.
  • That last client proposal your biz-dev team sent was convoluted and hard to follow.
  • You've had what you think is a great idea for content, but then wonder: Is it really a great idea?
  • You have an upcoming tradeshow and need ideas for decent content to give to prospects.
  • You know your content could be improved, but you're not sure how, or even where to start.

Guess what? It doesn't have to be that way.

Things are different when an experienced content professional is by your side as you develop and create content.

  • Prospects rarely, if ever, see embarrassing messages because your content specialist sends stuff to your content consulting / marketing editor first. And, even better, your content specialist is learning to write stronger, more effective messages on his or her own.
  • Prospects receive cogent, thoughtful emails from sales that cause connections instead of cringes because the team sends content to your right-hand content pro first. Plus, with the encouragement and gentle guidance of a top-notch editor, your team may actually start writing better messages.
  • The proposals your biz dev team sends are easy to read, persuasive, and filled with elements that lift the know-like-trust factor because the team worked from a template your editor created.
  • After discussing your idea with your editor/content consultant, you realize that another direction might work better. Your content consultant just saved you from a potentially costly mistake.
  • You're generating lots of tradeshow leads because your content consultant--who has now consistently worked with you over time--came up with an idea for a fabulous content takeaway.
  • You're methodically working through a content development plan based on an evaluation and recommendations from your content consultant. You know which pieces are must-have priorities, secondary priorities, and nice-to-haves. You also have ideas for lots of new content to add to your arsenal, again thanks to your on-call marketing editor / content consultant.

Those results are exactly what's possible for you with my Content Consultant / Marketing Editor package.

The On-Call Content Consultant / Marketing Editor package:
What's included

What you get

The specifics

  • 60-minute welcome call and planning session

Before I begin, I need to understand your company, your audience and their journey, and your goals. In this 60-minute call, either over the phone, by Skype, or through Hangouts, I’ll pick your brain in preparation for the work ahead.

  • Content audit

The best way for me to learn about your company, products/services, and market is to dive into your content through a content audit. During the work, I'll inventory your content and provide high-level recommendations on what might be missing or what needs improvement. I'll also develop a list of questions I’ll need you to answer to close any gaps I might find.

  • Full critique of and recommendations on
up to 100 pages of content

This work happens over the three months we spend together. You decide which content you want improved, either based on  the content audit recommendations or your knowledge of your team. For instance, you may have a few sales people who need to learn to write better emails, or a content specialist whose language feels stilted or lacks polish. You may want me to review a series of sales presentations, ebooks, brochures, web pages ... whatever. At the end of our time together, you'll have vastly improved content and perhaps even stronger team writers.

  • Unlimited email and chat access during business hours for you and two team members

Have a content idea you want to shoot by me? How about a nagging grammar question? Wondering if something you've written sounds right, or if a message is clear enough? Want to talk about your ideas for an upcoming trade show? No worries. Using chat or email, send me whatever content issue comes up, and I'll give your queries priority attention.

  • Weekly email check-ins

Your content projects won't fall through the cracks when I'm on your team. I'll gently poke and prod those who need it--including you--with weekly updates that reflect the status of your projects.

  • Ongoing ideas for new content and presentation methods from a fresh set of eyes

As I work on your content, I'll invariably have many ideas: for new content, new forms of content, new ways of presenting content, new ways of recycling existing content. I'm a content maestro who will be orchestrating and conducting on your behalf.

  • Stronger, clearer messages for your brand, products, and services

As I work on your content, I'll also ask many questions that help us get crystal clear on the benefits of what you offer and why people should choose you instead of anyone else. And because I love to share what I learn, I'll naturally share insights and messaging recommendations with you.

  • Improve more than "words;" improve content readability and usability so people actually want to -- and enjoy -- reading your content

My mad desire is to create readable, enjoyable content that proactively answers reader questions, tackles reader objections, and smooths out whatever rough edges might cause the reader to work harder than she should to consume your content. In my eyes, YOU, the business owner or marketing professional, should do the work to make your content as easy to consume as possible. I'll guide you in the direction of creating that kind of content -- the kind that seamlessly, smoothly, leads readers ever closer to YES.
